DANCE STYLES / CLASSES
FREESTYLE
FREESTYLE is a popular form of dance in the UK today. It involves runs, spins, kicks and leaps, as well as many other diverse steps and movements with lots of arm and hand actions. The music can be fast and rhythmic or slow and sensuous, allowing dancers of all ages to use freedom of expression to enhance their style.
STREET DANCE
STREET DANCE is a hip-hop inspired, active dance style. To Street dance refers to dance styles – regardless of country of origin – that evolved outside of dance studios in any available open space. Street is improvisational and social in nature, encouraging interaction and contact with other dancers.
MINI MOVERS
MINI MOVERS is a class for our young dancers just starting their dance journey.
A fun mixed genre class where children learn different styles of dancing, including; Freestyle, Street Dance,
Rock 'n' Roll, Acro & Show Dance.
COMPETITION
COMPETITION class is suitable for all ages who have had experience in either our beginner / intermediate or advanced freestyle classes. The class offers the opportunity for freestyle dance to come alive, and to take you to the next level.
MIXED GENRE
MIXED GENRE is a class that includes a mix of dance styles, including; Freestyle,
Street Dance, Rock 'n' Roll,
Acro, Show Dance, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Commercial and Jazz
SHOW DANCE
SHOW DANCE is a fun and exciting class for dancers wanting to be a part in our annual show which is held in the fabulous auditorium at the Festival Drayton Centre. Dancers who do not take this class can still be a part of the show, however STEPZ show dancers perform lots of diverse dances, of varied themes, on stage, often from musicals in theatre or film.
TEAM
TEAM is for those who have had experience in our competition class and at competitions. It is a chance to work together and as part of a team.
ACRO
ACRO is a dance style incorporating acrobatic tricks such as cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings into dance, this class is for those who would like to learn acrobatic skills in order to implement them into routines. It requires strength, flexibility and technique.
